Arizona Cardinals‘ running back Andre Ellington has a “severe” hip-pointer injury. He won’t practice and will be a game-day decision when his team takes on the Kansas City Chiefs on the week 14 NFL schedule.

Don’t look now, but the Arizona Cardinals find themselves on a bit of a slide. They have lost two straight games and have not looked particularly good doing it.

Losing to the Seattle Seahawks is nothing to be ashamed of, as Arizona did in week 12, but then they lost an ugly game to the Atlanta Falcons in week 13. Offense has been hard to come by with Drew Stanton at quarterback, and an injury to stud running back Andre Ellington certainly isn’t going to help matters.

When asked about Ellington’s status on Thursday, head coach Bruce Arians said that Ellington will not practice this week and will be a game-time decision on Sunday:

That does not sound promising for Ellington and the Cardinals. Considering how rare it is for a player to take the field if he does not practice at all, this feels more like posturing by Arians than any actual hope Ellington will be available.

That puts the Cardinals down to their backup quarterback, backup running back, and without a full-strength Larry Fitzgerald as they try to hold on at the top of the NFC West.
