Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hopes the team doesn’t wear out their workhorse running back, Le’Veon Bell, for the final stretch of the regular season.
Even before the Pittsburgh Steelers released running back LeGarrette Blount, it was clear that Le’Veon Bell was the team’s workhorse running back.

Since Blount’s departure, Bell has continued to carry the load for the offense and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has openly admitted some concern about the team giving Bell too much of a workload and running him into the ground.
Of course, Big Ben does believe Bell can carry the load, but the team needs to be cautious during the final stretch of the season so Bell can still have some tread left on the tires for a potential run in the postseason.
“I don’t know of a running back since I’ve been here that has been able to basically play every single snap,” Roethlisberger said on 93.7 The Fan.
“I think that speaks volumes for his conditioning and the work that he has put in. But you do have to be careful. I hope we don’t run him into the ground, if you will. It’s that stretch of the year where everyone is going to give it everything they have and I know he probably wants to be in there every single play because that’s the kind of player he is.”
Bell is currently the NFL’s second-leading rusher with 1,046. He is one of four running backs through 13 weeks who have eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark — leading rusher DeMarco Murray, LeSean McCoy and Justin Forsett are the three others.
