Brady Hoke said he will still support Michigan in a statement released after the school fired him Tuesday.
Michigan did Tuesday what just about every college football fan expected them to eventually do and fired coach Brady Hoke. The Wolverines went 5-7 this year and were just just 20-18 under Hoke since going 11-2 in 2011, his first season with the team.

However, despite dealing with constant on-field struggles, Hoke said he will leave the program with “fond memories” in a statement released Tuesday.
From Michigan’s press release:
"“I feel very fortunate to have been an assistant and head coach at the University of Michigan,” said Hoke. “I will always support the University and this football program. This is a special place and one that Laura, Kelly and I have enjoyed representing during our time in Ann Arbor. I want to thank all of the sons that played for our teams and appreciate the commitment that our coaches and support staff made to the program every day. I will miss the relationships that I’ve been fortunate enough to make within this university and community. I additionally appreciate all of the support that our fans, alumni, students, administration and former players have provided our program. I leave with fond memories of my experience at Michigan. Thanks and Go Blue!”"
While Hoke will look back fondly on the memories he made at Michigan, fans of the program surely won’t do the same. Michigan is one of the premier programs in college football and the team’s performance these past few seasons has no doubt been unacceptable for the fan base.
Regardless, this is a classy statement from Hoke and he deserves credit for taking the high road on his way out.
It will certainly be interesting to see which coaches the Wolverines target for what can be one of the best jobs in the country.
