Los Angeles Kings Fined $100,000 For Allowing Slava Voynov To Practice
By Josh Hill
The Los Angeles Kings decided they’d let suspended defenseman Slava Voynov skate with the team so the NHL decided to fine the team $100,000 because of it.
Slava Voynov is currently serving out a suspension from the NHL over a domestic violence arrest that happened earlier in the season in the thick of the NFL’s domestic violence epidemic. It wasn’t the same sport but it was the same crime and the NHL didn’t waste time in taking action as a result.

The NHL suspended Vaynov earlier this season and his suspension has not yet been lifted by the league. Vaynov practicing with the team, even if it was by some ‘mistake’ like the Kings claim, the NHL is not taking this lightly at all.
According to NHL.com, the Kings were fined a whopping $100,000 for allowing Voynov to skate with the team during his suspension for deistic abuse.
"Voynov skated with teammates today during a Club practice. Such activity is in direct contravention of the terms of the suspension levied Oct. 20, which permit Mr. Voynov to use club facilities and work with team personnel but prohibit his participation in any team-related functions or activities."
The reason for Vaynov’s suspsenion weighs heavy in the reaction to the misquote of letting him practice with the team. That’s not to say the NHL wouldn’t have handed out the same fine regardless of the reason for the suspension, rather it jus makes it impossible to defend this or laugh it off as a simple mistake by the Kings.
