Miami Marlins Interested In Signing Jake Peavy
By Evan Massey
The Miami Marlins are reportedly interested in signing veteran starting pitcher Jake Peavy in MLB free agency.
Jake Peavy is coming off of a World Series winning season with the San Francisco Giants, and is now looking to cash in during free agency. One of the main spenders already this offseason has been the Miami Marlins, and they are indeed interested in signing Peavy. Adding a veteran pitcher to their very young pitching staff would be a smart move for them.

According to a report from ESPN, the Marlins are one of the teams showing the most interest in signing Peavy at this point time.
It would certainly be a quality addition for the Marlins, who are hoping to make a big jump this coming season and get back into the postseason.
Peavy finished last season with a 7-13 record to go along with a 3.73 ERA and 158 strikeouts. Obviously those numbers are not what many teams look for in free agency, but he is much better than those numbers suggest. He would also likely be a cheap addition for the Marlins, and would bring experience and the ability to mentor the younger pitchers.
Miami is simply looking to improve their all-around depth, and Peavy makes a lot of sense for what they are looking to spend. There are plenty of other teams out there that could use some starting pitching, and the Chicago Cubs have been linked to Peavy already this offseason as well.
All of that being said, this is certainly something to keep an eye on over the next few weeks. The Marlins are certainly looking to make more moves, and Peavy could be one that they can close on in the near future. Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Peavy come out, and more teams begin showing interest in him.
