St. Louis Rams players upset the local police department this week when they silently protested the handling of the situation in Ferguson, but the team has refused to publicly apologize for the protest.

The shooting death of 18-year old Michael Brown and the non-inditictment of the officer who killed him has spurred protests across the country and has divided folks on the issue. Ferguson, Missouri is where all of this went down over the past couple of months which is situated just miles away from St. Louis and the Edward Jones Dome — home of the St. Louis Rams.

Just like with how the Miami Heat silently protested the shooting death of Trayvon Martin by wearing hoodies, a few of the St. Louis Rams players exited the tunnel on Sunday in a hand up, ‘don’t shoot’ pose in a silent protest. The NFL refused to punish the players for their actions and the team is sticking by them by not apologizing on their behalf.

The Rams released a statement that expressed concern about the situation the police are being put in but there was no apology whatsoever for the silent protest on Sunday inside the Edward Jones Dome.

No one in the Rams organization is dumping on the local police or taking a side in the issue of who was right and wrong in the Michael Brown slaying. All that the Rams are doing is standing behind their players, which is something few other teams might do in this situation. That speaks volumes about the loyalty the Rams have to the team they have, as a public apology clearly is not coming.
