Vince McMahon made an appearance on the Stone Cold Steve Austin podcast Monday night after RAW went off the air and it aired live on the WWE Network. Coming in, everyone had wondered whether or not Austin would bring up the recent issues with CM Punk, which he did.
And McMahon’s response was a bit stunning.
Vince actually apologized to Punk for the way that he was fired. In case you missed it, WWE sent Punk his firing memo on the day of his wedding back in June, which Punk admitted killed the relationship that he had left with the company to that point. After that, Punk said he would never work with WWE on anything, ever again.
Via Wrestling Rumorsd:
"During the Dec. 1 edition of Austin’s podcast, which aired live on the WWE Network, Austin asked McMahon if he wanted to talk about Punk. McMahon said, “yes,” and then issued an apology to Punk in regards to receiving his “severance papers” on his wedding day.McMahon went on to say he had no idea that the company would be issuing Punk his pink slip on June 13, and that he was sorry for that. He also went on to say that he hopes that he and Punk can do business again one day. McMahon and Austin at one time had a “Punk-like” situation, where Austin left the company. However, he ultimately came back to work."
Again, despite Punk saying that he would never work with WWE again, as we’ve seen so many times before, Vince has his ways of changing things.
