Fantasy Football: Week 14 Fantasy Playoff Waiver Pickups

Well, we are to that point of the season where you are either playing to advance in the playoffs, or are just playing in your pointless consolation bracket. However, for those of you who are still playing, you might have Mark Sanchez and be worried about him playing against Seattle. Don’t worry folks. I got all your Week 14 adds that could lead you to fantasy success!

Quarterbacks:

Johnny Manziel, CLE – Is it Johnny Manziel time in Cleveland? Potentially, and that makes him add worthy on potential alone. If Manziel does start this week, the matchup against the Colts isn’t as great as it appears, but he could still manage to be effective because of the rushing yards. I’m worried a lot of people will look at what Colt McCoy was able to do against the Colts defense and think that Johnny could do the same thing. He won’t. The Colts were without starting cornerback Vontae Davis, and he should be back this week.
Schedule remaining: Week 14: v. Colts, Week 15: v. Bengals, Week 16: at Panthers.

Colt McCoy, WAS – McCoy has had excellent success against opponents when he has played. As a starter, McCoy has completed 72.7% of his pass attempts in Washington. Washington isn’t asking him to make difficult throws, they are keeping everything close to the vest, and he’s succeeding. Are you trusting him to win you a Fantasy Championship? Maybe.

Schedule remaining: Week 14: v. Rams, Week 15: at Giants, Week 16: v. Eagles

Running Backs:

Doug Martin, TB – Well, Doug Martin sure did surprise me in Week 13, and I’m not too sure it was all because he’s fixed now. The Buccaneers upgraded the offensive line this offseason, and Lovie Smith just took over the job this offseason as well. It took some time for everyone on that line to figure out the scheme and the defense looks good, and maybe the offensive line is turning around. Doug Martin is available in over 50% of ESPN.com Leagues. There are zero running backs on your waiver wire that possess the talent that Doug Martin does, so why not get him? Although he has a tough Week 14 matchup, he can catch passes and have success that way as well.

Schedule remaining: Week 14: at Lions, Week 15: at Panthers. Week 16: v. Packers

Jonathan Stewart, CAR – Do we finally have clarity in this backfield? Jonathan Stewart has been solid in Point Per Reception leagues over the last three weeks. He’s also been okay in standard leagues, but the touchdowns aren’t there. Stewart is going to be tough to trust, but he has a favorable schedule down the stretch, and should be considered for your roster.

Schedule remaining: Week 14: at New Orleans, Week 15: v. Tampa Bay, Week 16: v. Cleveland

Wide Receivers:

Stedman Bailey, STL – Stedman Bailey is a quickly rising receiver who possesses some great potential. Over the last two games, Bailey has nailed over 85+ yards in both of them and he had a touchdown in the game two weeks ago. Last week, Bailey set his career high in yardage, with 100, against the Raiders. Shaun Hill seems to like him, so I’ll trust I’m for the rest of the season if I have to. He has a solid remaining schedule as well.

Schedule remaining: Week 14: at Washington, Week 15: v. Cardinals, Week 16: v. Giants

Kenny Stills, NO – Although Kenny Stills has been mildly disappointing this season, he does possess the ability to be a massive threat in this offense now that Brandin Cooks is out. I called the big game last week, and I feel like I kind of got lucky since it all kind of happened on one play. But hey, that’s what Kenny Stills can do for you, and while it won’t happen on a weekly basis, he can rack up fantasy points in a hurry for you.

Schedule remaining: Week 14: v. Panthers, Week 15: at Bears, Week 16: v. Falcons

Tight Ends:

Jordan Reed, WAS – Reed has a terrible matchup this week, but with the Tight End position becoming so depressing, its time to consider Jordan Reed as an every week starter with Colt McCoy at quarterback. Even though I don’t like the matchup, I like the combination of Reed and McCoy, so I’ll buy in. Reed hauled in nine catches for 123 yards against the Colts on Sunday, and while I don’t think 100+ will be a weekly occurrence, I think he can get to six fantasy points. Which, let’s face it, has been better than your current tight end production.

Schedule remaining:  Week 14: v. Rams, Week 15: at Giants, Week 16: v. Eagles
