Florida Gators athletic director Jeremy Foley flew out to Fort Collins, Colorado to meet with Jim McElwain on Tuesday night, and we now have a brief update on what is taking place between the two sides.
Just a short time ago, the official Florida football account noted that the talks the last 24 hours were indeed productive and that the process is still ongoing.
We’ve had very productive conversations with Coach McElwain and his wife Karen and those continue.

Just a few days ago McElwain emerged as one of the top candidates in the search by Florida to replace Will Muschamp, and the process escalated quickly with the news that Foley and crew were going to pay him a visit, clearly showing that he’s the top choice to take over in Gainesville at the moment.
Earlier reports on Wednesday noted that the two sides had come to a deal for McElwain to be the next coach, they were just talking about lowering his buyout price. To leave Colorado State, McElwain has a $7.5 million buyout clause, although the Gators could get that lowered.
