Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State, but according to Match.com, that is not the word most uniquely Kentuckian in online dating profiles.
Match.com provided Mashable with an interesting survey of words used in online dating profiles, broken down by state, to determine what word was the most often associated with that state.
In Wisconsin and Minnesota, the word was “cabin,” as well as Alaska. Ohio and Michigan went for “bonfires” (and nothing says true love like a little friendly arson … wait, probably not what they meant).

The word for Indiana was “NASCAR,” one of just two of states that had a seriously sporting bent to their profiles.
The other was Kentucky. The word? “Basketball.”

The state is home to two of the most recent national champions in college hoops—Kentucky in 2012 and Louisville in 2013—and the Wildcats appear to have assembled one of the biggest mercenary groups this side of the French Foreign Legion best teams in the nation with no fewer than nine former McDonald’s All-Americans on the roster.
Beyond those two, Western Kentucky has a Final Four in its past and has been to 23 NCAA tournaments.
But the state hasn’t had a pro basketball team since the ABA’s Kentucky Colonels folded as part of the rival league’s merger with the NBA in 1976.
So, no, it appears to be all about the college hoops in Kentucky. Love and basketball, indeed.
