The Sacramento Kings will be without star big man DeMarcus Cousins for the weekend as he recovers from a viral infection.

On Wednesday, Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins was hospitalized for a viral infection that has kept him out of action for the past week. According to doctors, Cousins will need “treatment and rest” as he attempts to recover from the illness.

In the meantime, DeMarcus Cousins will be out of action throughout the weekend.

The Sacramento Kings’ team physicians say Cousins’ “condition is improving daily and a full recovery is anticipated.”

Cousins, who is having a career year with averages of 23.5 points and 12.6 rebounds a game, could return as early as next week. The 24 year old has not stepped onto the court since a Nov. 26 loss to the Houston Rockets. Those 12.6 rebounds per game is currently enough to lead the NBA.

Since Cousins has left the lineup and Ryan Hollins took his place, the Kings have fallen back to .500.

This weekend, the Kings will take the court against the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic.

Both games will be at home.

As for the illness that Cousins has been dealing with, let’s just hope this is not the mumps.
