The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for another anchor in their starting rotation and it appears Jon Lester is someone they’re ‘primed’ to sign this winter.

When Jon Lester was traded away from the Boston Red Sox this summer, the belief was that he would come back to Boston since he loved the team so much. Since then, things have changed and the possibility of Lester staying in California is growing.

He won’t be back with the Oakland A’s, but he may end up traveling not far away to Los Angeles to join Clayton Kershaw in the Dodgers rotation.

According to WEEI, the Los Angeles Dodgers are primed to make a run at Jon Lester and the teams who are in on him know this.

"But multiple sources connected to teams interested in Lester have told WEEI.com that the Dodgers are a late entrant into the sweepstakes, with both serious interest in the top left-hander on the market and the resources to make a hard, late charge."

It hasn’t been indicated if the Red SO, Yankees and those other teams interested in Lester are nervous about the Dodgers being this revved up to sign Lester, but it wouldn’t be surprising. The Dodgers have demonstrated in the past they’re not afraid to hand over the keys to the bank vault in order to get World Series talent on their roster.

Lester helped the Red Sox win a World Series and the Dodgers have been hunting for such a thing for a while now. It’s been a very long time since the Dodgers have been in the World Series and won it, which is why they’ve thrown the checkbook at so many players in recent years. Lester would be yet another one of these signings, but unlike how the Yankees threw money at players, the Dodgers seem to be smart about it.
