The walk-on defensive lineman was found dead in a trash bin close to his home and the Ohio State campus earlier this week, after going missing a few days prior. Since his passing, his teammates have spent time remembering his enthusiasm and the work ethic he brought to the field.
When the Ohio State Buckeyes take the field Saturday against the Wisconsin Badgers at Lucas Oil Stadium in the Big Ten Championship Game, they will also be remembering their teammate.
According to the Associated Press, the Buckeyes will wear a helmet decal with Kosta Karageorge’s number as a tribute.
"Ohio State’s football team will wear a helmet sticker with Karageorge’s No. 53 during Saturday’s Big Ten championship game against Wisconsin in Indianapolis. A moment of remembrance before the kickoff is also being planned."
The Ohio State wrestling team — which Karageorge was also a member of — will be remembering him with his initials on their singlet for the upcoming season.
It is clear that Kosta Karageorge made a positive impact on his teammates on the wrestling team and Ohio State football team, and it is hard to imagine the difficult time they are dealing with as they remember a life lost too soon.
