The Russians really like to hide stuff from us. Liliya Shobukhova for example, likes to hide cheating from not just us, but from everyone. However, just like real life, cheating does not pay off and everyone will eventually find out.

In a recent Associated Press report, Shobukhova and others are facing allegations that they paid to hide doping, and in her case it was a hefty fine.

"Both German television channel ARD and French sports daily L’Equipe reported that Liliya Shobukhova, who won the Chicago Marathon from 2009-11 and the London race in 2010, paid the Russian athletics federation 450,000 euros ($550,000) to cover up a positive doping case."

That’s just the second paragraph in the report, and if you want to read it all you can click on the link above.

The report makes it sound like there is a pretty big problem with doping over in Russia and is causing the International Association of Athletics Federation is starting to take notice:

"“These are serious allegations,” IOC spokesman Mark Adams told the Associated Press. “I understand an investigation is already under way by the IAAF ethics commission and we await the full findings. Should there be anything affecting the International Olympic Committee and our code of ethics, we will not hesitate to take any and all action necessary.”"

Shobukhova has participated in three Olympics and won the Chicago Marathon three times as well, there’s no telling how many secrets she, and others, are trying to hide from the world.
