Arkansas QB Brandon Allen Likely “Good To Go” For Bowl Game

Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen should be “good to go” for whatever bowl game the Razorbacks find themselves in.

According to Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema, Razorbacks starting quarterback Brandon Allen should be good to go for whichever bowl game the team ends up in. Allen was listed as questionable going into the final game of the season against Missouri due to a hip injury.

He also took a pretty good beating from Missouri’s defense in the game, as noted in a story by Pro Football Talk.

Allen’s performance in the game was gutsy in an otherwise losing effort. His injury and beating became apparent by the latter half of the game, but the Arkansas quarterback stayed in and gutted out. Less impressive was the decision by Bielema, or his offensive coordinator, to throw on nearly every down of Arkansas’s last drive that began with over four minutes to go.

Allen originally injured his hip in the November 22nd game against Mississippi. He injured it in the first half and did not return in the second half. His subsequent return game against the Tigers left him obviously hurting and was his worst game of the season. He was 13 of 30, compared to his 56.3 percent completion rate on the season. The junior has played in all 12 games for Arkansas this season, passing for a total of 2,125 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Had Allen been unable to go against Missouri, his younger brother and backup quarterback, Austin Allen would have started.
