Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly went after his former critics on Thursday, suggesting his offensive style couldn’t work at the college level.

When Chip Kelly entered the NFL in 2013, skeptics said he could not be successful at the pro level and that his high-tempo offense could only work at the college level.

Well, Kelly has proven his doubters wrong, as it’s evident that the offensive style he perfected at Oregon can be used at the NFL level. The Eagles went from a 4-12 team the year prior to his arrival to going 10-6 in his first season. Things have gotten even better in his second season, as Philly is 9-3 and looking like a team capable of making a deep postseason run.

Kelly clearly hasn’t forgotten about all those that said he’d fail. The Eagles coach pulled off a masterful troll job on Thursday when asked about rumors he would leave Philly for a college job.

From ESPN:

"“I’m just not a candidate for a college job,” Kelly said Thursday. “I don’t think our pro offense will work at the college level.”"

What makes this so perfect is that not only is Kelly poking fun at his former critics, but he’s also pointing out just how versatile of a coach he is.

Still, Kelly wasn’t all jokes on Thursday, as it appears he doesn’t appreciate the rumors about his possible departure.

"“I get agitated because it’s totally false,” Kelly said. “And then I see written that if they called, I would hang up on them. I never said that. That’s the things that bother me. I would never hang up on any school. I’ve got a ton of respect for Florida. We’ve got three Florida players here. I think they’ve got a heck of a football coach."

Kelly and the Eagles will face off against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday at home.
