CM Punk and the WWE are not getting along at the moment, and the former rising star has rejected an apology from Vince McMahon.
In a sport that often times involves staged drama and fighting, there is some very real stuff going on between former WWE star CM Punk and his former employers. The drama is deeply rooted, but it’s not going away thanks to Punk’s refusal to lay down and take an apology from Vince McMahon.

The whole thing started when CM Punk left the WWE but was soon fired by the company. The rising star that he was, Punk’s dismissal from WWE was one that puzzled fans who are still putting pieces together. Punk claims that he was fired on his wedding day, while Vince McMahon attributes this to lack of communication more than vitriol.
Punk escalated things when he went on Colt Cabana’s the Art of Wrestling podcast, where he basically called the WWE the shadiest business in town for the way they treat their talent behind the scenes. He wasn’t just talking about his personal experience with being fired, but mentioned steroid abuse, neglect and a general lack of care for those not in the very top 1 percent of the WWE.
Vince McMahon went on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast to address this and even extended an olive branch — sort of — to Punk in the form of an apology.
Punk has promptly snapped that branch and fired back at McMahon. Appearing on Colt Cabana’s podcast for a second time, Punk stated that McMahon’s apology was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
TO be fair, McMahon’s apology was rather backhanded. While he apologized for any hurt feelings Punk had over being fired on his wedding day — to WWE starlet A.J. Lee — he pretty much blamed Punk for not being skilled in the art of communication.
Punk is communicating very well at the moment, as he’s throwing mounds of dirt at the WWE in perhaps it’s darkest and most vulnerable era ever.
