When the Dallas Cowboys face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Thursday night, they are attempting to do more than remain in the playoff mix.
It has been a long, long time since the Dallas Cowboys have been able to finish the record with a record on the right side of 8-8.
More from Dallas Cowboys
- 3 Cowboys who won’t be on the roster after training camp
- Stephen Jones poorly tried to justify Cowboys’ negotiations with Tony Pollard
- Cowboys: Jerry Jones puts the pressure on Dak Prescott
- Cowboys give a masterclass in defense construction with Trevon Diggs extension
- Ranking the Cowboys top training camp priorities after Zack Martin mess
That can all change on Thursday night at Soldier Field.
When Tony Romo leads the Dallas Cowboys onto the field, they will be looking to do a lot more than remain in the thick of the NFC Wild Card race. They will be doing more than trying to keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
They will be trying to lock up their first season over .500 since 2009.
That’s right.
It has been a half of a decade since the Dallas Cowboys have finished with a 9-7 record or better, so tonight could be the next step forward for America’s Team. It is one of the most well-rounded teams the Cowboys have put on the field in recent memory, so it would only be appropriate for that team to find their ninth win.
Here is a look at the Cowboys’ last five seasons by record:
2013: 8-8
2012: 8-8
2011: 8-8
2010: 6-10
2009: 11-5
