The Florida Gators have found their next head football coach and it is indeed Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain.

Jim McElwain has been hired as the next head football coach of the Florida Gators. The Colorado State head coach had been high on the radar of the Gators since the announcement that Will Muschamp would not be returning, and they were able to get the job done rather quickly.

McElwain has only been at the helm of Colorado State for three years, but he has been one of the more effective coaches in the nation during that time span. When he walked into the job back into 2012, he led the team to just a 4-8 record. However, in 2013, the team improved to 8-6 and earned a victory in the New Mexico Bowl.

This season, McElwain really put himself on the radar as he led the Rams to a 10-2 record.

Aside from his time at Colorado State recently, McElwain is best known for the time he spent as the offensive coordinator at Alabama from 2008-11, where he helped lead the team to two national championships.

So now, McElwain will be tasked with resurrecting a Florida program that has fallen on some tough times over the past few seasons.

But if his work at Colorado State is any indication, things in Gainesville might be okay.
