Jim Tressel is a National Championship winning head coach, but his reputation has been sullied thanks to the way he ran Ohio State into the ground.
With college football coaching jobs opening up at big schools like Michigan and Florida, just about everyone was rumored to be in on the jobs. Florida and Nebraska have since hired new head coaches, but one name popped up in regards to the Cornhuskers and it was an interesting one to say the least.

For Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel’s name came up in the rumor mill — never very seriously — when it came to replacing the recently fired Bo Pelini.
There’s just one problem with that though — Tressel is basically banned from the NCAA for another two years which means he’s not coaching anyone in the near future. His name may come up again, even in head coaching rumors in the NFL where he’s more than fair game, but his college coaching days are done for now.
As pointed out right before Nebraska hired Mike Riley to be their new head coach, Tressel has a show-cause that doesn’t expire until two years from now.
For those thinking Jim Tressel is going to be Nebraska’s next coach… He is serving a 5-year show-cause that doesn’t expire until Dec. 2016.

This means the man who drove Ohio State into the ground and helped destroy the Big 10 won’t be around to do the same to your school or conference until the end of 2016, beginning of 2017 at the earliest.
It’s a real shame too, as with schools like UAB shutting football down, the dying programs could have at least gone out in a Jim Tressel blaze of glory and embarrassment.
