Not long after the Florida Gators announced on Monday that they have found their next head coach, the Nebraska Cornhuskers followed suit with the surprising announcement that they have hired Oregon State head coach Mike Riley to take over for Bo Pelini.
Following another good season in 2014, Nebraska fired head coach Bo Pelini and it did not take them long to find a replacement.

Now while Florida hiring Jim McElwain was a move that we all saw coming, this one by Nebraska is a little more surprising.
As early as Wednesday it was reported that Nebraska was in serious talks with Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema, although now it appears that report was indeed false as some had expected.
With the hiring of Riley, Nebraska is getting a coach that’s the polar opposite of Pelini, as in he’s not so hot-tempered, more or less. Plus, you’re going to see the offense spread out a little bit more, even more so than was done under Pelini.
This is definitely an interesting move on the part of the Huskers, and they get the award so far for biggest shocker of the coaching carousel season.
