Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf was released from a Montana prison today.

Ryan Leaf was at one time one of the most talked about college football players in the country and many expected him to make a huge name for himself at the NFL level. Peyton Manning was also a very talked about quarterback in the same draft class, but many thought that Leaf would actually end up being the better quarterback. Obviously those who thought that have been proven wrong, and Leaf has gone from being a very talented quarterback to an extremely disappointing individual.

He has spent more time in and out of trouble with the legal system due to drug abuse, and he was released from a Montana prison today. Leaf was originally put back in prison after he was convicted for fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance which violated his probation.

Needless to say, this has become a very sad story and one can only hope that he finds a way to get his life back on track. There was a point where he seemed to be happy and in a good place, but he fell away from there once again and back into the drug life. He has the type of story that could really help young people and adults alike if he is able to get his life straight.

There are plenty of people who still support Leaf and are willing to help him with his addiction, and he simply needs to turn to them and accept their offers.

Either way, this is a story that probably is not over and Leaf will likely be in the media again in the future. Hopefully he is in the media for stepping out and trying to help those who are addicted, and is clean himself. That is definitely the hope, but it is going to take a lot of time and hard work for him to get out from under this addiction.
