It’s not very often that players receive their most serious injuries… while sitting on the bench.

During Tuesday night’s game between the Boston Bruins and the Los Angeles Kings, though, Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask ended up getting hit in the head with the puck — and receiving a couple stitches mid-game — while he was sitting out of the match-up altogether.
During a post-game interview, of course, the 2014 Vezina Trophy winner got a chance to share his dramatic tale with the media.
For Boston fans, his interview was nothing surprising, as he hammed it up and joked about getting hit the one time he’s not wearing his helmet. He openly admitted to moving his seat all the way into the back corner of the player bench, so he was safely tucked behind one of the team’s coaches, for the rest of the game.
The best part, though? He didn’t mind owning up to the fact that he bragged about his mid-game stitches to the rest of the guys on the team.
"“Oh, of course [I bragged about it]”, he laughed. “There’s not too many times I get a chance to do that.”"
Unfortunately, it looked like Rask wasn’t relieved in net that game in a good way — the Bruins fell in a 2-0 shutout to the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
