Andre Johnson Wants To Play Out Career With Houston Texans
By Cory Buck
After a summer in which he demanded a trade, Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson said he now wants to spend the rest of his career in Houston.
As the longest-tenured member of the Houston Texans and arguably the best player in the franchise’s brief history in the NFL, Andre Johnson made it clear that, despite a summer of acrimony, he doesn’t want to be anywhere else.

“I always want things to work out here. I’ve always wanted that,” Johnson said per the Houston Chronicle. “I don’t want to play for nobody else. I have been here for 12 years. I don’t even think it would feel right.”
These comments stand in stark contrast to Johnson’s demeanor in the summer, when he said he wanted to be traded following a disastrous 2-14 campaign last season which saw the franchise clean house and bring in a new coaching staff and quarterback crew. All of that talk appears to be in the past after a promising 12 games with the new regime.
“(My) locker has been here the longest. I couldn’t imagine how it would feel to put on another uniform, so hopefully I’ll be able to be here.”
Not only does Johnson know where he wants to play out his career, but he knows how long he wants to stick around. He told the Chronicle he’s eyeing up a 15-year tenure before he hangs up his cleats.
“I only wanted to play 10 years,” Johnson said. “You know, football careers are very short. You never know how things are going to go, as far as injuries and stuff like that. I would have never thought I would be mentioned up in those categories. To be in the top in receptions and yardage, I would have never thought I would be in this position.”
