Andre Ellington missed his third straight practice on Friday and head coach Bruce Arians ruled out the team’s leading rusher for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs as the Cardinals attempt to snap their two-game losing streak.
Stephan Taylor will get the start for the Cardinals against the Chiefs with rookie Marion Grice and recently-signed Michael Bush also receiving some work against Justin Houston, Tamba Hali and the Chiefs defense.
The injuries are beginning to pile up for the Cardinals who have been able to fight through the loss of bodies to lead the NFC West ahead of the surging Seattle Seahawks, but with injuries to Carson Palmer, Tyrann Mathieu, Paul Fanaika and Ed Stinton in recent weeks the Cardinals could be hard-pressed to maintain their status as the best in the west.
Helping their cause will be the potential return of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald who is a game-time decision after missing the past two games with a knee injury. The Cardinals have only scored 21 points in the last two weeks the Cardinals will hope the future Hall of Fame receiver will be able to return to the field on Sunday to offset the loss of Ellington.
Ellington is leading the Cardinals with 660 rushing yards and three touchdowns and also tied for the teaml lead with 64 receptions for 395 yards and two touchdowns.
