CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson has had interesting takes on the NCAA football playoff the past couple months but maybe none more than his take on Missouri vs Alabama on the SEC Championship.

Last week CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson told the Dan Patrick Show that he thinks Florida State should get credit for what they did last season. He also argued he’s done with the committee if they chose TCU over Baylor, whom Baylor beat earlier this season.
Now he says Missouri should be in if they beat Alabama on Saturday in the SEC Championship game.
Just hold on there fella. While I agree with the take on TCU and Baylor since I’m a true believer in the head to head, there is no way Mizzou is getting in over Bama even with a win.
Many want to argue Ohio State not getting in because of bad early loss. Well, if we are going to talk early losses this season, then look no further than Missouri. Missouri lost, at home, to a 4-8 Indiana team 31-27 on September 20th. Two weeks later, they lost to a good Georgia team, but it was a whipping. They were shut out 34-0. So, please, let’s have some sanity about this here.
Danielson explained his stance to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
"It’s important that whoever wins the championship of the league — give it a caveat … you can’t have a five-loss team — but I think the scenario that Missouri has in front of them, if they upset Alabama, Alabama can’t go"
While I agree a loss to Mizzou can take Bama out a win can’t propel the Tigers in. You just can’t but Danielson goes on to explain.
"On a résumé test does that work? No. But I think this time, the strength of the conference and the system of the conference (in determining a champion) gives them the nod because you can’t have no SEC team go. And (if Mizzou wins) you can’t ask anybody else but Missouri to go, in my humble opinion. … You can’t lose and get your way in there. That means to me Missouri — who else could you take?"
Everyone will have differing opinions on the playoff, which I can’t imagine stays with just four teams more than a couple of years, however to think somehow we can magically make Mizzou’s losses be forgotten, well, you can’t.
