DeMarco Murray ran for a season-high 179 yards and a touchdown to lead his Dallas Cowboys to a 41-28 win over the Chicago Bears and Soldier Field Thursday night. Brandon Marshall left the game with a rib injury and was immediately taken to a hospital. His status isn’t yet known.
After a scoreless first quarter, Murray scored from the goal line to put the Cowboys up 7-0.
Dallas went into halftime with a 14-7 lead after Jay Cutler hit Martellus Bennett to tie the game before Tony Romo connected on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cole Beasley.
The Cowboys got the third quarter started with another Beasley touchdown catch, and scored another 14 points in route to a 21-0 third quarter to take a 35-7 lead. The Bears rallied in the final period. Cutler hit Alshon Jeffery, who made a terrific catch in the end zone to get the rally started.
The Bears and Cowboys exchanged scoring drives for the rest of the game. The 41-28 victory clinches the Cowboys’ first winning season since 2009 and lifts the team out of the 8-8 quagmire it lived in for three-straight seasons.
