If a fight between boxing stars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao were to happen, “Money” would reportedly want two-thirds of the fight revenue.

The fight that every boxing fan wants to see is Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.

Both men are past their prime, but they are still the biggest names the sport has to offer and it would be a blockbuster event that could line each man’s pockets with plenty of cash.

However, the split wouldn’t be 50-50.

According to a report, Floyd Mayweather and his team are looking for a much larger percentage of the revenue from the event than Pacquiao would receive.

From  Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated:

"With the buzz for a potential super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao once again reaching a fever pitch, there continue to be indications that the finances of this anticipated showdown will be a significant obstacle. According to a source close to Mayweather, if a Pacquiao fight were to happen, Mayweather would need to receive close to two-thirds of the revenue."

While two-thirds of the revenue going to Mayweather would not be unreasonable to ask, Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, seemed to dispute that number was accurate and a part of the discussions.

“Based on my conversations, that is not accurate,” Arum told Mannix in a phone interview.

It will be interesting to see what agreement the Money Team and Pacquiao’s team could eventually come to if they make the fight happen, but you would have to believe Mayweather would earn a larger percentage of the purse — especially given their recent pay-per-view numbers.
