Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is an emotional character and a noticeable figure on the team’s side line during games. Whether it is talking to his offensive teammates or congratulating defensive and special team players coming off the field, he is active.

Without the ability to hear what he is saying, he often looks angry and yelling, despite Cowboys personnel repeatedly saying Bryant is nothing but positive. The issue is it seems to always coincide with a situation where you’d expect a wide receiver to go all diva and get upset. On Thursday night, that was in the fourth quarter as the Chicago Bears were mounting a comeback and Bryant was targeted only one time in the second half.

Bryant denied that he was upset about that, and Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is coming to his defense.

“He’s a teddy bear,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM], via the Dallas Morning News. “I’m going to tell you one thing, he’s got a passion. There’s just no stopping it. You just can’t calm him down when he gets going. He uses a lot of energy doing that.

“That’s his passion. And this team uses some of that passion. It’s not a negative thing.”

Everyone wanted the Cowboys to have another emotional leader like Michael Irvin, and now they appear to have one in Bryant, who wears Irvin’s 88 jersey. Just how much longer will we continue to scrutinize Bryant’s sideline demeanor?
