University of Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman had a message for the doubters who aren’t approving of the school’s firing of Bo Pelini and hiring of former Oregon State head coach Mike Riley

Harvey Perlman has seen and heard the outcry over the school’s decision to fire Bo Pelini after seven years and a 67-27 record with the Huskers and that criticism was taken to a new level on Wednesday after the surprising hire of Mike Riley to replace Pelini on the sidelines next year.

The chancellor of the university reportedly had a prickly relationship with Pelini and Riley is by all accounts the salt of the Earth, but that didn’t stop Perlman from sending a message to his haters via his twitter account and using some terminology to relate to the youth of America.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema was the object of the affection of Nebraska fans after turning the Razorbacks around in his second season in Fayetteville, but despite reports indicating they were engaged in serious talks, Bielema maintained he was committed to Arkansas for the long-term.

Perlman’s tweet suggests if he hired Bielema after two years in Arkansas he and the fans wouldn’t be able to trust him to be with the team for the length of his contract and would be looking for his next big job. In any event Perlman wants the fans to give Riley a chance despite having a losing record in three of the last five seasons and only one nine-win season in the last six years, something Pelini did every year he was in Lincoln.
