The new manager search for the Tampa Bay Rays has come to a close, as the team has decided on bringing 36-year-old Kevin Cash, current bullpen coach for the Cleveland Indians, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is reporting on Friday.
Two months ago the Rays organization was turned upside down with the news that Joe Maddon was leaving the club after a huge string of success to eventually take over the Chicago Cubs.

The Rays certainly took their time with this process, but they believe they have found their answer back to the top with the hire of young Cash, who last played in the Major Leagues with the Boston Red Sox back in 2010.
Cash played eight seasons in MLB with five different teams as a reliable defensive catcher, but not much known for hit skills at the plate. For his career, Cash batted just .183 overall.
Following retirement in 2011, Cash joined the Blue Jays organization where he was positioned as a scout. Before the 2013 season, Cash joined Terry Francona’s staff with the Indians.
Now, though, it’s off to the big time for the former catcher.
