Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper has been shattering program records all season long and is the prohibitive favorite to win the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s most outstanding receiver and a top-three finish in the Heisman Trophy voting.
And with the Crimson Tide playing Missouri in the SEC Championship Game it was only fitting that Cooper would break another record as he moved passed former Vanderbilt receiver Jordan Matthews for the SEC single-season receiving record with 113 receptions.

That’s not the only record that Cooper looks to break on the day as he needs one more catch to tie Reidel Anthony’s record for most catches in an SEC Championship Game with 11. I like his odds to get at least two catches in the second half and set another record in his historic season that should result in him earning an invitation to the Heisman Trophy ceremony next Saturday.
Cooper’s quarterback, Blake Sims, also set the school single-season passing record earlier in the game, moving past AJ McCarron as he and Alabama looks to finish the game and advance to the College Football Playoff.
The playoff committee will release their final rankings on Sunday at 11:30 p.m. CT.
