Tommy Tuberville’s team hung on to preserve the win after stopping Houston on fourth down as the pass from Greg Ward Jr. fell incomplete shy of the goal line as Cincinnati won a share of the American Conference Championship with a 7-1 conference record.

Cincinnati won their final seven games to share the conference title with Memphis who beat the Bearcats by the score of 41-14 on Oct 4 and Central Florida who beat East Carolina on a Hail Mary on Thursday night to get to seven conference wins. Cincinnati and UCF did not play this season.

This is an impressive finish for Tuberville’s team who lost three straight games after beginning the season with two wins and the play of quarterback Gunner Kiel was a big reason for the turnaround. Kiel led Cincinnati to the No. 14 passing offense entering Saturday’s game with an average of 295.8 yards per game and has 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

Cincinnati will now wait to hear who they will play in their bowl game with the bowl announcements coming out tomorrow afternoon and throughout the day.
