Fantasy Football: Start Ryan Tannehill In Your Fantasy Playoffs

If you are still reading this, let me stop and say congratulations! You are either preparing to dominate your league in the playoffs, or I guess you might be wanting to dominate the consolation bracket. Either way, kudos to you and lets get to a few guys you might want to start and a few guys you might want to sit.

Quarterbacks:

Start:

Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins: Tannehill, despite a bad game last week versus the Jets, will be looking to get back on track against the Ravens this week. I believe that he will continue his resurgence and lead your fantasy team to a round one playoff win. Tannehill has impressed over his last seven games with a 12:4 TD:Interception ratio. If you owned a guy like Cam Newton or Colin Kaepernick you could do a lot worse as your playoff quarterback. One thing about “Tannyhill” is he isn’t a QB who is likely to lose you a week.

Teddy Bridgewater, Vikings: If you are desperate, you can nab Teddy off of waivers and plug him in. Teddy has looked pretty good over the last few weeks and is seemingly taking command of this less than spectacular offense. Teddy has had a couple of solid weeks against Green Bay and Carolina and will look to keep it going against the hapless Jets, who have only held one QB in check all year. Plug Teddy in with confidence this week.

Sit:

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers: Ben has been really solid this year, and could be a tough one to sit this week. But if you have a better option, you might not want to run Big Ben out there this week against the Bengals. Some of his worst games this season have come on the road, and Ben and company will be heading to the not so friendly confines of Cincinnati to battle with the Bengals. The Bengals boast a tough 11:12 TD:interception ratio which could stand to lead Big Ben to another low scoring fantasy output this week. If you have the options available ,it could keep you on the plus side to sit Ben this week.

Mark Sanchez, Eagles: Legion of Boom. Do we really need to say anything else? I know that the Eagles boast one of the hottest offensive minds in the game right now, but do you really want to trust Mr. Butt Fumble against the LOB? I know I don’t. So I believe I will take my own advice and start Bridgewater over Sanchez anywhere I might own him.

Running Backs:

Start:

Rashad Jennings/Andre Williams, Giants: Yes, Jennings is a little banged up, but if he is starting Sunday and practices at all Friday, I am starting him too. If he does not, I am starting Andre. To put it nicely, the Titans defense has been a gift to running backs all year long.

Daniel Herron, Colts: If you were lucky enough to nab this gem off the wire a few weeks ago, then I would saddle him up and ride him all the way home. It is pickups like this that can win fantasy leagues. Herron gets a Browns defense that likes to give up fantasy points to RBs. And with the prolific offense of Andrew Luck, I look to see Herron producing top 20 RB stats the rest of the way.

Sit:

Lamar Miller, Dolphins: Simply put, I am not putting my playoff hopes in the hands of a guy the Dolphins don’t seem to trust any more than I do. Although the Ravens are not the feared Ravens of the Ray Lewis days, they still boast the stingiest defense against fantasy RBs. Not. Going. To. Do. It.

Tre Mason, Rams: You may be thinking what in the world is wrong with you?? Have you been living under a rock? Well, no I have not, and yes I know that Tre broke out last week and had a HUGE game, but in case you have been living under a rock let me remind you that he did this against the Oakland Raiders. And yes, the Raiders have been the league’s doormat against fantasy RBs all year. This week Mason gets the Redskins, who surprisingly have been pretty tough against the run this year as they have only surrendered six rushing TDs. So, no I will not put my playoff hopes in the hands of a rookie with one HUGE week if I have no other options with a pulse.

Wide Receivers:

Start:

Kenny Stills, Saints: I am running Kenny out there in every league I have him in. I believe this Saints team is like its coach and will fight and finish this season with tons of pride and tons of fight. Drew Brees is going to lean on this young WR and feed him the rock. Oh yeah, and they are playing the Panthers. Get him active.

Jarvis Landry, Dolphins: As a benefactor of the impressive play from “Tannyhill”, Landry has really impressed as of late. Since I don’t think the ‘Phins will be able to run, and I am benching Miller and starting “Tannyhill”, I look for Landry to continue his play and be worthy of a WR2/3 week and helping your team advance to the next week.

Sit:

Jeremy Maclin, Eagles: I just don’t want to put my playoff hopes in the hands of a guy facing off against the Seahawks defense. Sit this guy out this week if you can.

Keenan Allen, Chargers: He has had a few good weeks in a row now, and you may be tempted to use him. And yes, he might even keep it going as Rivers continues to have a solid season. However, if you have other options, I would shelf Allen this week as the Patriots do an excellent job of neutralizing their opponent’s greatest weapon. Allen is the Chargers’ greatest weapon.
