Parros is best known for his glorious trademark mustache, but he is also well known for his heart. While with the Ducks, the team store sold George Parros mustaches. Parros made sure that all proceeds were donated to charity. This is just one of many ways Parros helped the community. He was also an active member in the NHLPA, being a representative for the Ducks between 2008-2012. He also served on the NHLPA during the recent CBA negotiations during the 2012-2013 lockout.
Parros was drafted in the eighth round (222nd overall) by the Kings in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft after playing four seasons at Princeton University, where he was named team captain during his senior year (2002-03). He was named by The Sporting News as one of the sport’s smartest athletes, as he was named three times to ECAC’s All-Academic team.
Born in Washington, Pennsylvania but raised in New Jersey, he was a standout player at Delbarton High School in Morristown, New Jersey. He helped Delbarton reach the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Non-Public final in 1997-98. He was named to the New Jersey High School Hall of Fame in 2012.
People who just saw George Parros the hockey player would think of him as a goon and nothing more. People who saw or read about George Parros the person will see that he was a top shelf human being and a great ambassador for the game of hockey.
