TCU likely clinched a spot in the College Football Playoff with their win over Iowa State in their regular season finale and they’re running up the score on the Cyclones to avoid any potential slip in the playoff rankings

The Horned Frogs played a bit sloppy in the first half against Iowa State with only a 17-3 lead at halftime and seven of those points coming off of a trick play for their first touchdown early in the first quarter.
However, the second half was a completely different story for TCU who made frequent trips to the end zone to run up the score to impress the playoff committee who had the Horned Frogs ranked No. 3 this week, but could be in danger of being passed by the Baylor Bears who beat them earlier this year if they can beat Kansas State on Saturday.
With style points perceived to be necessary for TCU to remain in the top four, Gary Patterson’s team kept the starters in the game late, including quarterback and Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin who delivered this touchdown in the fourth quarter to Ja’Juan Story to make it a 55-3 game.

Coaches often get criticized for running up the score, but you can’t blame Patterson and his staff for trying to have the best possible body of work with a national championship on the line.
