The Michigan Wolverines are not in the hunt for the College Football playoffs, but they’re still gunning for Jim Harbaugh so they can be in that discussion soon.
When the Michigan Wolverines fired Brady Hoke this month, there was already talk of the Wolverines going after embattled San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. There hasn’t been much of that talk lately, but it appears talks are starting to heat up.

With both Nebraska and Florida filling their head coaching voids this week, the pressure is on Michigan to find the right guy and that guy may be Harbuagh.
There has been no indication that Harbaugh is interested in the job, but the Wolverines are starting the process of luring him in by reaching out to him. According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Wolverines have reached out to Harbaugh to gauge his interest in coaching their football program.
The University of Michigan has reached out to #49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, sources say. U-M left convinced he wanted to be an @NFL coach

Harbaugh is likely done in San Francisco after the 2014 season, but the Wolverines are hardly front runners to land him. While he has Michigan ties, the Wolverines can’t trade draft picks to the 49ers the way other NFL teams like the Raiders or Dolphins might be able to.
Harbaugh has been on Michigan’s radar for a while now and they’d be crazy to not at least reach out to him.
