Marcus Mariota is heavily favored to win the award this year as he’s had one of the best college seasons this year of any college quarterback. He’s not the best college quarterback ever, but he’s the hottest name in college football at the moment and his play has backed that up. Next to him is Melvin Gordon, the sensational running back for Wisconsin, who stands as the biggest threat to stealing the Heisman from Mariota.
Twitter exploded after the announcements with a mixture of excitement and cynicism over this year’s Heisman Trophy finalists.

TCU's Trevone Boykin not being named a Heisman finalist is a damn shame. Why invite only 3 guys? Frogs/Boykin deserved that spotlight.

I've said before that I would give my (non-existent) Heisman vote to Melvin Gordon, but there's not a wrong vote in the bunch.

If Oregon is No. 2 and Mariota is top Heisman candidate, it really has been a blah year in college football.
