Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas tore the ACL in his right knee and is done for the 2014 season.
The Miami Dolphins will be without safety Louis Delmas for the remainder of their ill-fated run at the NFL playoffs. Delmas was carted off the field in the middle of the team’s 28-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Ensuing tests indicate Delmas tore his right ACL, which will end his season.

The Dolphins fell to 7-6 with the loss, good for 9th in the AFC playoff race. A long shot to make any noise at this point, the team will have to work some magic without yet another defensive starter. Rookie Walt Aikens played in Delmas’ spot, and will likely do so moving forward. The team was already short starting cornerbacks Cortland Finnegan and Jamar Taylor.
The Dolphins clearly missed their starting secondary during a second half in which the team surrendered over 250 yards and 21 points. The Ravens abused the Fins both in the air and on the ground, rushing for 183 yards while adding two Joe Flacco touchdown passes to the fray.
Even worse for Miami, the team now must get up and scrape together a secondary to stop Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. With the Dolphins needing to win out just to keep their odds afloat, the loss of Delmas could prove critical in another disappointing season.
