No. 2 – Ray Horton: Defensive coordinator, Tennessee Titans

Horton will absolutely get a shot this year, after being a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching position last season.

Teams that are lacking in defense, particularly if they were weak in pass defense, will be looking at Horton, who has shown he not only can put together a successful defensive scheme, but he’s got a great eye for talent and knows how to develop them.

The 54-year-old Horton has been with seven different NFL teams as a coach, with defensive coordinator stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans.

Some likely destinations would be the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and possibly even the Titans if Ken Whisenhunt (who he worked under in Arizona before Whisenhunt was fired) isn’t retained by the Titans this season.

Working against Horton is his lack of longevity with any team, with his longest stop at any NFL team being six seasons as the secondary coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
