Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was involved in a serious car accident on Tuesday afternoon, but it’s looking like he’s going to walk away alright from the crash.

The football world was rocked on Tuesday after Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte. The initial reports were unclear about what Newton’s status was, but it appears that he’s going to walk away from the accident largely unscathed.

While his playing status for Sunday is up in the air — and irrelevant at the moment — it appears that Newton did not suffer any major injuries in the crash. The Panthers monitored the situation and released information to Panthers beat writer Joe Persons that Newton is believed to be okay and the injuries are not life threatening.

This is fantastic news and means NFL fans everywhere an breathe a sig of relief. Cam Newton is a rising star in the NFL, and he’s one of the more upstanding members of the football community. The two car crash was indeed serious and scary, as his truck reportedly flipped multiple times, but Newton appears to be alright.
