Michigan has reached out to current LSU Tigers coach Les Miles in regards to their head coaching vacancy, Wolverines 247 is reporting late Tuesday night.
Les Miles is an alum of the school and played offensive line for the Wolverines.
For the better part of the past few months, ever since it was known that Brady Hoke would not be making his way back for 2015, Miles has been at the top of the list of potential candidates, something that he and everyone else in college football is used to. The last two instances where Michigan was looking for a new head coach, 2007 and 2011, Miles’ name has come up, however he ultimately ended up declining the opportunity to stay in the SEC.
However, some people seem to think that this time might be different. Miles does have a love for his school and would no doubt like to coach there deep down. With him getting up there in age, he might see this as the last opportunity to get up there and save the program that has been dwindling for the better part of the last decade.
Although interim AD Jim Hackett noted in the press conference after he fired Hoke that being a “Michigan Man” would not be part of the criteria, it would be hard to pass up Miles if he’s willing to take the job.
