18. Earl Campbell
Earl Campbell might be a little low on the list, but based on his career achievements, he’s still a top 20 running back off all-time. I just can’t justify ranking Campbell higher than 18th.
Campbell got off to one of the hottest starts from a running back early in his career and he led the NFL in rushing in his first three seasons in the league. Not too shabby, eh?
Unfortunately, like a lot of running backs who rush for 1,900-plus yards in one season, Campbell peaked after his third season and only rushed for 1,000 yards in one of his last four seasons in the league.
Ultimately, Campbell finished his career with 9,407 rushing yards, which ranks 33rd all-time.
