9. O.J. Simpson

O.J. Simpson was one of the most exciting backs to ever play in the NFL. Every time he touched the ball, Simpson was a threat to take it the distance.

Simpson was the first running back to break the 2,000 yard mark in one season. Simpson set the record as a member of the Buffalo Bills in 1973.

Even more remarkable than setting the single season rushing record, Simpson is the only player in the 2,000 yard club who didn’t play 16 games. Simpson surpassed 2,000 yards in only 14 games. In other words, Simpson did, in 14 games, what took all the other running backs to do in 16. Wowzer.

We all know how it turned out for Simpson, though. Real sad stuff.
