Taylor Swift lyrics are relatable for pretty much everyone from teenaged girls to Paul MacLean

This is actually the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life.

More from NHL

I’ll leave the whole story right here so you can go give Sporting New’s Sean Gentille some much-deserved patronage, but let’s talk about this for a second.

The NHL seems to be the only major sport that Taylor Swift hasn’t at least pretended to like –probably, upsettingly, because hockey already has it’s requisite pop star superfans, and they’re Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. I don’t blame her — I’m not a fan of those particular associations either.

When you really think about it, though, Taylor Swift and the NHL actually have a lot in common. She gets really judged; so does Jonathan Bernier. She lets go of the wrong guy; the Boston Bruins are still not over the Seguin trade. She loves to jump headfirst into relationships she knows that she’ll regret, then broadcast them on the public stage… are we sure she’s not related to Craig MacTavish?

"— Edmonton Oilers: Saw you there and I thought oh my god / Look at that face, you look like my next mistakeThey’ll say this in June, to whomever they draft in the second round."

Beyond the fact that I can’t get this song out of my head in the first place, of COURSE the Oilers get compared to a song about a crazy gold-digger who only wants shiny nice things, doesn’t seem to bother developing any kind of mature relationship with her modelesque sugardaddy, and basically implodes at the smallest obstacles.
