White Sox Sign David Robertson To 4-Year, $46 Million Contract

The Chicago White Sox signed New York Yankees closer David Robertson to a four-year, $46 million contract.
The Chicago White Sox have made a big splash on free agency by signing New York Yankees closer to a rather large four-year contract. The deal was first reported by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale who reported that the deal was in excess of $40 million.
CBS’ Jon Heyman backed up Nightengale’s report and added more specific financial details, saying the total value of the deal is $46 million.
Robertson has been solid over the past three seasons, with a a 2.20 ERA, 1.097 WHIP, and 12.3 K/9 in 258 innings. For the Yankees last season he tallied 39 saves as well.
But as far as contracts go for closers, this one is pretty shocking both in terms of length and dollar amount. It shows that the Chicago White Sox and general manager Rick Hahn are committed to winning and contending in the American League Central division, It won’t be easy with perennial contenders the Detroit Tigers and the reigning American League champions, the Kansas City Royals.
The White Sox also signed Adam LaRoche to a two-year, $25 million free agent contract in late November. There are rumors that the White Sox are working out a trade with the Oakland Athletics for starter Jeff Samardzija,
