ESPN’s Colin Cowherd is changing his tune on Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, but is still refusing to apologize to the young point guard after unfairly ripping him for years.

ESPN’s Colin Cowherd has trolled Washington Wizards point guard John Wall in the worst way since the Kentucky product entered the NBA in 2010.

If you’ll remember, Cowherd obliterated Wall after the point guard’s first NBA game because Wall did the dougie prior to the contest. Cowherd made the absurd connection that Wall’s dancing was proof that the guard was a selfish player and would never win titles. The ESPN radio personality even suggested that the fact that Wall grew up without a father would prevent him from being a great leader.

Well, in the years since, Cowherd has never backed away from those comments and has constantly downplayed Wall’s success.

However, on Wednesday, Cowherd changed his tune on Wall… sort of.

Here’s what Cowherd said on his radio show The Herd, according to SportsGrid.

"If you play real defense in this league, you’ve got character. John Wall works hard on the defensive end. He grinds people. […] Do I think John Wall has grown up? Absolutely! Do I think he was immature when he broke into the league? Absolutely. First couple of years he was a turnover machine and couldn’t shoot because he took lousy shots. Do I think he has evolved? Yes. Do I think he has matured? Absolutely! Do I think he has character? Yeah. You don’t play defense like that without deeply caring about teammates. Defense is about your teammates. That is why Melo doesn’t play any. Offense is about you. Defense is about caring about your teammates. John Wall plays real defense. Definitely has real character. Was I too harsh on him? I host a radio show. I do basically 30 columns a day. But if you are looking for apologies you are off the wrong pier. I said what I mean, I mean what I say. John Wall has grown. Hopefully over five, six years, so have I.”"

This is pretty terrible from Cowherd.

Instead of just admitting he was wrong about Wall’s character, Cowherd suggests that he, in fact, was right when he made the initial comments but that Wall has conveniently matured recently.

Wall deserves an apology from Cowherd, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear he’ll ever get it.  Cowherd’s comments about Wall have long been ridiculous and over the line and it’s time the host just owned up to them.

But it appears Cowherd’s ego is too big to simply apologize to the guy that he’s personally attacked for no reason since 2010.
