The Dallas Cowboys aren’t going to save DeMarco Murray for the postseason, and will continue to rely on him down the stretch.

The Dallas Cowboys are guaranteed their first winning season since they went 11-5 in 2009 and ended their postseason winless drought with a first-round win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite being guaranteed to have a winning season, they’re still in an incredibly tight race for a post season berth.
Because a trip to the playoffs isn’t guaranteed, the Cowboys will continue to dump a lion’s share of the workload on the shoulders of running back DeMarco Murray, the man who single handedly has been carrying this team all season.
“Every down, every possession, every first down has Super Bowl meaning to it, as though you were in the Super Bowl game itself,” Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry said, via the Dallas Morning News. “We’re not saving anything for anything.”
The Cowboys were criticized for abandoning the run and becoming too one-dimensional during the 2013 season. They’ve found success feeding Murray the ball relentlessly and running a lot this season, but Murray’s injury history makes it a risky proposition. Saving Murray and lightening his load makes a lot of sense, but without a playoff berth guaranteed the Cowboys don’t have that luxury.
