The Big Ten seems to be on the rise as a conference, but it’s bleeding head coaches as three teams will have new leaders with Wisconsin now adding their name to the bunch.
Gary Andersen is one of the best coaches the Wicsonsin Badgers could have hoped for after losing Brett Bielema to Arkansas a year ago but they’re back in the market for a head coach. WHIle they didn’t go the route of Nebraska or Michigan with their head coach, Wisconsin has found themselves in the same position of not having one.

In a shocking move on Wednesday afternoon, Gary Andersen informed the Wisconsin Badgers he was leaving the program to fill the shoes of Mike Riley as the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers. The move comes as a massive shock to those in Madison as the Badgers had a winning season that saw them return to the Big Ten title game for a third time.
This comes after the Badgers were thumped in the Big Ten title game by Ohio State, 59-0.
Andersen is leaving the Big Ten for the Pac 12 and an Oregon State team that is on the rise. His departure from the Big Ten is a massive blow to the conference, as the best coaches are now Jerry Kill and Urban Meyer.
Those are fantastic names but the conference lost Bo Pelini and Gary Andersen from Nebraska and Wisconsin with Michigan still a job no one wants. That’s a bad look for a conference that looked to be on the rise and now has a ton of work to do if they want to rebound.
