There is ‘grave concern’ from some around the NFL that Houston Texans number one overall pick Jadeveon Clowney will have a short career.

When the Houston Texans selected linebacker Jadeveon Clowney out of South Carolina with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, many expected him to immediately flourish alongside of J.J. Watt. Clowney was expected to be a perfect compliment to Watt, and many expected to see him wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines.

Unfortunately, Clowney has been dealing with a ton of injury issues this season and just underwent surgery that will keep him out through the start of 2015.

There are some that are beginning to grow concerned that Clowney will end up having a short NFL career with his injury problems. It would be a shame if his career was cut short, but the issues that he has had already in his rookie year are certainly troubling.

Clowney has only been able to play in four regular season games this season, recording seven tackles and three of them being for a loss. Houston knows that they could have a big problem on their hands, but they are still hanging onto the hope that he can stay healthy and get his career back on track. There is no question that he still has the talent to become a major difference maker for their defense.

All of that being said, his career will completely depend on whether or not he can come back at full health and stay that way. He is a very athletic player with a questionable work ethic, and that has been called even more into question with the injury problems.

Hopefully he can heal quickly and get back on the field and get back to working out and getting to full strength. He is still a huge piece in the future plans for the Texans, and their defense could definitely use him.
